Legislature passes changes to the Worker's Compensation Act

Workers in Illinois may have to face some changes in their workers' compensation plan if they have been involved in an accident and have been injured at work. In a recent amendment move in the Illinois State House of Representatives, Democrats have made an attempt to pass amendments in the existing workers' compensation law for workers that requires employers to pay the medical expenses in the event that a worker has been injured in the workplace.

Car accidents can be financially taxing

Car accidents claim many lives every year in Illinois. And, even if car crashes are not fatal, they can inflict serious injuries to the victims, causing permanent disability in many cases. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, accidents primarily occur because of distracted driving or driving under the influence of alcohol. Speeding is also another major reason behind car accidents.

Long-Term Care Ombudsman protects nursing home residents

As people age, they often develop long-term health problems that can require them to enter care facilities that are designed to meet their medical needs. Unfortunately, sometimes residents end up being abused or neglected by staff workers, or even victimized by other residents. This is the reason the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program was established in Illinois: to work toward the prevention and elimination of such abuses and preserving the rights of resident patients. This program is available to every resident in any long-term care facility.
