Incidents on the roadways claim many lives every year in Illinois. In many cases, the driver of the vehicle may be found guilty of traffic law violations. One of the leading causes of car crashes is distracted driving, which includes driving while intoxicated or driving under the influence. In rare cases, collision may be caused by the improper maintenance of roads or weather conditions.

Elmwood Park police recently reported the death of a 45-year-old man who succumbed to injuries suffered when he was struck by a car. The deceased man received numerous injuries during the car accident. The accident investigation, along with the post mortem reports, revealed that the car accident was the cause of the victim’s death.

There are many accidents in Illinois every year. In 2014, 702 fatal car accidents were reported by the Department of Transportation. In these car accidents, 767 victims have died. There was however, a decreasing trend in the number of car accidents and fatalities related to these crashes. Sobering numbers like there has resulted in calls for an aggressive campaign to cut down traffic violations.

Relatives and family members of fatal car accident victims suffer a great deal. The medical expense incurred while their loved one is in the hospital can be substantial. Financial crises can get worse if the deceased was the sole breadwinner of the family.

Obtaining guidance about possible legal remedies may be appropriate in these cases. The dependents may seek to file a wrongful death lawsuit in order to help them seek justice for the loss of their loved one. This could ultimately help them alleviate the financial burdens the accident caused such as medical bills, lost wages and other related damages.
